James is a senior resource management, environmental and public law specialist. 

His experience is wide ranging, and includes advice and representation on plan reviews, large scale infrastructure projects, offshore marine consenting, water and wastewater, strategic growth planning, contaminated sites, renewable energy and climate change, historic heritage, subdivision and development, judicial review, and environmental enforcement. His clients are diverse, including multinationals, central and local government, State-owned enterprises, manufacturers, developers, iwi authorities, and private individuals.

James has a track record of success in complex and difficult projects and litigation, and is focused on achieving outcomes for his clients as swiftly and efficiently as possible. He is a problem solver and an advocate before all forums, including local authorities, Boards of Inquiry, the Environment Court, and in the superior courts. He has been involved in a number of leading resource management cases and some significant recent projects.
